Although I was a decently talented web producer and then Pre-Kindergarten teacher, ever so briefly, many moons ago, neither occupation proved to be the best long-term fit. In my mid-twenties, without audible manifestation, flashes of light, or prophecies shared by strangers (although all of that would have been welcomed and still is), God made it clear that He was calling me into the pastoral vocation. Honestly, it seemed rather nonsensical at the time, for a relatively new Christian to be preparing to minister to others about Jesus. I couldn’t connect the dots of why or how in the world God would use someone like me to make a difference in such sacred and arduous work. But, I had read enough of the Bible to recall that
“obedience is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22)
and since God was so clear and persistent in His will for me in this way, I decided to not waste a bunch of time (that was a gift from God in the first place) running from the inevitable, and so moved forward by faith, trusting Him to do the heavy-lifting. And He has done just that.
